Steps You Should Take

1. Stop the Water Flow

For plumbing leaks, call a plumbing specialist to locate and fix the source of the leak. If possible, turn off the Emergency Water Shutoff Valve. Water begins travelling ("wicking") immediately. Your quick response will save money and potential repair costs.

2. Keep it Safe and Clear

Keep children and pets away from the water for their safety. It's also a good idea to turn off the electricity in that area to prevent the risk of electric shock.

3. Contact Us

REStar Services is available 24/7/365. Call (844) RESTAR-1 as soon as possible. We will help you make your insurance claim and walk you through the process. We strive to make the process as stress-free and painless as possible for our customers.

What Our Technicians Will Do at Your Location

Locate

  • When the Water Restoration Technicians (WRTs) arrive, they will need to locate the source of water and determine how far the water has travelled.
  • The technicians will remove the baseboard and check the wall cavities for water, moisture, and mold.
  • If moisture is detected in the wall cavity, the technicians will need to make small access holes to the wall to allow air flow, evaporation, and dehumidification.

Remove

  • For Category 2 and 3 Water, both the carpet and its pad will be removed and disposed of.
  • Wood laminate flooring will also be removed for all types of water damage.

Apply

  • The crew will need to apply an antimicrobial treatment to affected areas as needed. This helps to hinder mold growth during the drying process.

Dry

  • The technician will place dehumidifiers and high velocity air movers throughout the affected area to promote evaporation of the moisture.
  • The carpet may need to be extracted to remove as many gallons of water as needed.

About Your Insurance Coverage

  • For damage that is covered by an insurance claim, the mitigation and repairs will be covered by your insurance carrier. The deductible would be applied to the mitigation, repairs, or personal property (replacement of contents).
  • If there is a coverage concern based on the source of water damage, the claims handler will ask for utility documents or a plumber's report. Submitting this quickly will help the adjuster make quick and thoughtful determination of your claim.

  • Not all insurance carriers send a field adjuster for small to mid-size claims. Some carriers might "desk adjust" the claim. REStar Services will assist with all details that need to go to the claims handler.
  • For damage caused by Flood, Sewer or Drain; REStar Services will work with your agent to confirm your coverage. These are typically endorsements.
  • For Mold resulting from a covered water claim, contact your agent to confirm coverage.

Important Points to Consider

Oftentimes, it is difficult to determine whether contents and building materials are salvageable until after the drying process is completed.

For sewer or flood damage, porous materials (ceiling tiles, insulation, carpet, carpet pad, and drywall) cannot be salvaged because of the microbial levels. Additionally, properly applying an antimicrobial disinfectant is essential in these situations.

The length of drying time for your water damage can vary greatly due to a number of factors. We cannot safely remove our equipment until we are 100% satisfied that every surface is completely dried and decontaminated.

This process can take a number of days. REStar Services makes every effort to dry out your property as quickly as possible and to lessen any inconvenience on you.
